Irene Ballesteros
Hola! My name is Irene, I was born and raised in Venezuela.
Eighteen years ago, I left my home country to start a new life here in this wonderful country. Since then, I’ve been teaching Spanish in Long Island to kids and adults.
In school, I studied business administration. But after a while, I realized that what I truly wanted to do was spread the Spanish culture by teaching my mother tongue.
I’m so passionate about this career. I really love it – it not only gives me the opportunity to teach, but also to meet new people, make new friends and learn about other cultures. My goal is to teach students to carry on a conversation, read and learn the Latin-Spanish culture.
I believe there are no boring classes, but boring teachers! Learning Spanish should be a fun activity, and that is what my method is all about.
What is my methodology?
Immersion technique with emphasis on real life conversation. I incorporate Total Physical Response, or TPR, which is an interactive oral method where the student picks up or acquires the language by listening and understanding. Fluency comes as a result.
My training is energetic, interactive, and fun. I use lots of repetition, practice conversations, role play and much more.
